Medical Fact of the Week!
With the appropriate medication, patients with Crohn's disease often achieve periods of remission, or temporary recovery; however, this improvement can sometimes lead to premature discontinuation of treatments. Such cessation can be harmful, as continued treatment is often essential in preventing long-term complications like intestinal strictures or fistulas. With nearly half of Crohn’s disease patients not complying with treatment plans, it’s important to remember that remission is not the same as a full recovery and should not be treated as such, unless directed by a physician!
